New client-side and server-side capabilities aim to help enterprises recover conversion signals and measure customer journeys influenced by AI
Tealium has expanded its integration with ChatGPT Ads, introducing support for both the ChatGPT Ads Measurement Pixel and Conversions API (CAPI) to help enterprises improve measurement across AI-influenced customer journeys.
The capabilities provide complementary approaches to capturing customer acquisition, engagement, and conversion signals. The Measurement Pixel captures events in the browser, while the server-side Conversions API sends conversion and lifecycle data directly from enterprise systems to ChatGPT Ads.
As consumers increasingly use large language models and agentic experiences to discover products, evaluate options, and take action, traditional measurement infrastructure can leave gaps in customer journey data.
Tealium said the new integrations are designed to address those gaps by giving enterprises additional ways to capture signals associated with AI-driven interactions.
The company cited estimates from Morgan Stanley that agents could account for up to 20% of U.S. ecommerce sales by 2030, while McKinsey has estimated that agentic commerce could represent a $5 trillion global opportunity over the same timeframe.
The ChatGPT Ads Measurement Pixel provides a client-side measurement option for tracking website conversions and lifecycle events associated with ChatGPT Ads.
The Ads Conversion API, meanwhile, provides a server-side route for sending conversion and lifecycle events from Tealium to ChatGPT Ads. Server-side events can incorporate authoritative information from backend and enterprise systems, allowing organizations to measure activity that may not be captured reliably in the browser.
Together, the two capabilities can support measurement of events including:
The ChatGPT Ads Measurement Pixel is available as a Tealium iQ client-side tag. Customers can configure event mappings, ecommerce data, custom events, consent behavior, and debugging within Tealium iQ rather than developing and maintaining separate custom implementations.
The server-side Conversions API extends the same measurement framework to backend systems, providing an additional source of conversion data for reporting and optimization.
Tealium said the integrations are designed to extend its existing data and governance framework across both client-side and server-side measurement.
The approach gives enterprises greater control over which signals are shared with ChatGPT Ads while supporting consent requirements and governance policies across different stages of the customer journey.
“AI is changing how people discover products, make decisions, and engage with brands,” said Jeff Lunsford, CEO at Tealium. “Enterprises need more than visibility into clicks or isolated interactions. They need trusted, consented signals and governance controls that connect AI-influenced journeys to meaningful business outcomes.”
The new capabilities give enterprises a combined browser- and server-based approach to measuring conversions as AI becomes a more significant part of product discovery and customer decision-making.
