New tool evaluates marketing emails across deliverability, accessibility, mobile optimization, content and conversion best practices
Cross-channel personalization platform Listrak has launched an Email Marketing Audit tool that allows marketers to evaluate marketing emails against more than 30 email marketing best practices.
The free tool requires no signup and is designed to help retail marketers identify potential issues affecting email deliverability, accessibility, usability and conversion performance. Results are generated within seconds and include recommendations for improving email effectiveness.
Listrak’s audit evaluates key content elements that can influence how recipients interact with an email.
The tool checks features including preheaders, subject lines, early calls to action, clickable logos, SMS opt-in invitations, social media links and preference-management options. It also identifies potential subject-line spam triggers and other factors that may affect engagement.
The goal is to give marketers a quick way to identify missing or underused elements before an email is deployed.
The audit also examines email compliance and accessibility considerations.
Its checks include CAN-SPAM requirements, ADA accessibility criteria and SMS compliance when relevant opt-in sources are present. The tool evaluates elements such as unsubscribe links, image alternative text, color contrast, physical company addresses and urgency-related claims.
These checks are intended to help marketers identify potential compliance and accessibility gaps while improving the experience for recipients.
The tool analyzes how an email is structured and how its technical composition may affect rendering and performance across devices and inboxes.
Areas covered include mobile-first design, Gmail clipping risk, image payload size, coupon-code accessibility, GIF usage, button-based calls to action and the use of live text.
By identifying these issues before deployment, marketers can make adjustments that may improve email usability and reduce rendering problems.
Listrak said its platform data shows that email click-through rates declined 11% year over year in Q2 2026. At the same time, email continues to account for approximately 30% of e-commerce revenue, according to the company.
The combination highlights the ongoing importance of optimizing email performance as marketers contend with changing inbox requirements, accessibility expectations and evolving compliance regulations.
Ross Kramer, co-founder and CEO of Listrak, said the audit was developed to help marketers identify blind spots across content, compliance and composition, drawing on the company's experience working with more than 1,000 retail brands.
The Email Marketing Audit is available for free without requiring users to create an account.
