Leadership change comes as Cadent enters its next phase following more than a decade of growth, acquisitions and expansion into predictive advertising

Predictive advertising company Cadent has appointed Lisa Utzschneider as Interim CEO and Chair of the Board as the company begins a leadership transition following more than a decade under CEO Nick Troiano.

Utzschneider, who is also a Special Advisor to Novacap Management Inc., assumes both roles effective immediately. Troiano will transition to a strategic advisor position and support Utzschneider, the Board and executive team during the changeover.

The Board will conduct a search for a permanent CEO as Cadent continues executing its growth strategy and developing its predictive advertising platform.

Troiano's Tenure Marked by Business Expansion

Troiano led Cadent for more than 10 years, during which the company grew from approximately 200 employees to more than 600 and more than tripled its revenue.

Under his leadership, Cadent also expanded its capabilities through strategic acquisitions and technology investments. The company evolved from a television-focused business into a broader predictive advertising company spanning converged TV and digital media.

The transition follows the recent launch of the unified Cadent Platform, which brings together the company's capabilities across TV and digital advertising and is expected to serve as the foundation for its next phase of development.

Lisa Utzschneider Takes Interim Leadership Role

Utzschneider brings experience across advertising, media and technology businesses. She previously served as CEO of Integral Ad Science (IAS), where she led the company's global expansion, and continues to serve as a Special Advisor to the IAS Board.

Earlier in her career, she held senior leadership positions at Yahoo!, Amazon and Microsoft, working across digital advertising, cloud and enterprise technology.

As Interim CEO, Utzschneider will work with Cadent's executive team on strategy and operations while supporting customers and partners. She will also work with the Board on identifying the company's permanent CEO.

“The advertising industry is undergoing significant change, creating new opportunities for companies that can connect technology, data and media to deliver better outcomes,” said Utzschneider. “Nick and the Cadent team have built a strong company well positioned for continued growth. I look forward to working closely with Cadent’s executive team to execute the Company’s strategy and drive growth.”

Board Thanks Troiano for Leadership

David Brassard, Partner at Novacap and a Cadent Board Member, credited Troiano with guiding the company through a period of significant expansion and transformation.

“Nick has led Cadent through a period of significant growth and transformation for more than a decade, building a strong company, leadership team and strategic foundation for the future,” Brassard said.

He added that Utzschneider's experience in advertising technology and understanding of Cadent's business would support the company during the search for a permanent CEO.

Troiano to Support Transition

Troiano will remain involved as a strategic advisor to help ensure continuity for Cadent's employees, customers, partners and leadership team.

“It has been an honor and a privilege to lead Cadent,” Troiano said. “I am immensely proud of what we have built and the transformation we have accomplished together.”

Troiano said the company has expanded its team, business capabilities and technology platform during his tenure and added that he would continue supporting Cadent as it begins its next chapter.
