New integration adapts product discovery to each business buyer’s catalog access, negotiated prices, and purchasing rules without requiring custom development
Algolia has announced native support for Shopify B2B, enabling retailers, brands, wholesalers, and distributors to personalize search and product discovery for business customers. The integration adapts search results to each buyer’s account permissions, negotiated pricing, and purchasing requirements through the same Algolia integration used for consumer storefronts.
When a business buyer signs in and selects their company location, search results can reflect the products they are authorized to purchase, the prices negotiated for their account, and the quantity rules governing their orders. The approach is designed to help buyers find relevant products, simplify reordering, and reduce the need for separate search infrastructure.
Digital commerce is becoming an increasingly important channel for business-to-business sales. The global B2B ecommerce market is projected to reach $36 trillion in 2026, while Shopify reported 96% growth in B2B gross merchandise value on its platform during 2025.
However, B2B product discovery often involves more complex requirements than consumer shopping. Wholesalers and distributors may serve hundreds of companies, each with distinct product catalogs, contract prices, volume discounts, company locations, and purchasing rules.
When search results display unavailable products or prices that differ from those applied at checkout, buyers can face confusion and additional support requests. Algolia’s integration aims to address these challenges by incorporating account-specific commercial rules into the search experience.
The native integration supports three key areas of personalization:
Account-specific catalog visibility: Search results display products published to the catalog assigned to the buyer’s company.
Negotiated pricing: Results reflect account-specific prices, including fixed prices and percentage-based adjustments to standard pricing.
Quantity and volume requirements: Minimum and maximum quantities, purchasing increments, and available volume discounts can be surfaced during product discovery.
By making these details available earlier in the buying journey, the integration is designed to help business customers make purchasing decisions with greater clarity.
Piyush Patel, chief ecosystem officer at Algolia, said the integration brings the company’s search and retrieval capabilities to a wider range of Shopify B2B merchants, reducing the need for lengthy custom development projects.
Many businesses operate both direct-to-consumer and wholesale channels, serving customers such as franchisees, dealers, professional buyers, and corporate accounts. Supporting these audiences can require different catalogs, pricing structures, and purchasing rules.
Algolia’s native Shopify B2B support allows merchants to extend their consumer search capabilities to wholesale commerce while retaining account-specific configurations. According to the companies, this enables merchants to manage large product catalogs, multiple company locations, and different pricing arrangements without maintaining a separate B2B search system.
Amanda Engelman, director of product for Collective and B2B at Shopify, said business buyers expect the convenience and speed of consumer shopping alongside the products, pricing, and purchasing terms specific to their companies.
Native Shopify B2B support is available to Algolia customers using the Shopify integration.
Existing customers can enable the capability through the Algolia for Shopify app by activating B2B indexing. New customers can configure the integration through the Algolia AI Search & Discovery app dashboard.
The launch gives Shopify merchants a documented route to incorporating business-account rules into product search without building and maintaining a separate search system for wholesale customers.
