OpenX Technologies, Inc., one of the world’s leading omnichannel supply-side platforms, today announced the promotion of Gil Sommer to VP, Global Product. In this new capacity, Sommer will be responsible for product management, design, and marketplace quality for OpenX.
Reporting to John Gentry, CEO, Sommer will assume leadership of the global product organization, overseeing international teams based in the US and Poland. These teams work closely with publishers, advertisers, DSPs, and data partners to drive innovation and provide best-in-class technological solutions across all digital channels, including web, app, and CTV.
Coinciding with his elevation to VP of Global Product, Sommer will also join the IAB Tech Lab Board, where he’ll bring over 15 years of programmatic product experience to the non-profit consortium.
Since joining OpenX in 2022, Sommer and his team have been instrumental in ensuring that OpenX delivers innovative solutions to the market through key initiatives such as TV by OpenX, OpenX’s Cookieless Deal Library, early Privacy Sandbox testing, inventory quality and elimination of MFA, political tools, and more.
“OpenX has a rich history of leadership in programmatic innovation, from pioneering header bidding to building the largest independent supply-side graph, which powers the industry’s most advanced curation capabilities,” says Sommer. “I’m looking forward to not only continuing this outstanding work but also building on it by working closely with our partners and customers to deliver products that address their programmatic needs and positively impact their bottom lines.”
Prior to joining OpenX, Sommer spent five years at Connatix, a video platform for publishers, where he led all product management. Previously, he managed several categories at Fiverr, a marketplace for freelancers, and was a management consultant at Accenture Strategy, where he developed a strong ability to connect with clients and customers.
“Gil’s deep knowledge of programmatic and his ability to understand the needs of our partners make him a strategic selection to lead our product team,” says Gentry. “Further, he has a strong track record of innovating to solve for real-world programmatic challenges, which will be incredibly valuable in sustaining growth for both the market and OpenX amid the many changes affecting our industry.“
